My boyfriend and I have been together for eight years, but we recently encountered a difficult phase. We got a puppy together early on in our relationship, and he passed away suddenly after being hit by a car. We have been so torn up about it and not really addressing our emotions, so we decided to take a road trip. We were already filled with frustrations and deep emotions when we started driving, but it got even worse two hours into the trip when our air conditioner completely stopped working. Normally I would have said let’s keep going without the air conditioner, but it was in the middle of a summer heat wave. We were both immediately disgruntled so I called the nearest HVAC company to see if we could get it checked out and fixed. The entire drive over to the mechanic shop, my boyfriend just complained about how negligent he had been with the air conditioner and threw himself a pity party over it. When we reached the mechanic, he gave us a quote and told us that he would have the air conditioner up and running in about two hours. We were going to wait there, but we just wanted to feel comforted after riding around with no AC, so we stopped at a diner to eat. The cool air conditioning there cooled off our hearts, and we were finally able to share our open and honest opinions of how we had been feeling. It was so freeing, and I’ve never felt more connected to him. The rest of the trip was absolutely amazing for the both of us, and I am so grateful that we had to make that pit stop.
Air conditioning breakdowns can really be invasive to my schedule
I have a family of six, so to say that my life gets chaotic is putting it very kindly.
- I typically operate on 6 different schedules all of the time because everyone’s needs and demands are completely different.
Most of the time I don’t mind accommodating my husband and my kids because I want everyone to feel loved and cared for. Sometimes it does get pretty overwhelming and draining though. Last week our air conditioner broke, and it could not have happened at the worst time. Not only are we in the middle of a heat wave, but the cost to replace an air conditioner is exponentially higher than it typically would be due to the season. With summer camps and vacations, shelling out money to replace and install an entirely new air conditioning system was not a part of the plan. I even had a difficult time scheduling an HVAC mechanic to come out and inspect our current air conditioner. I am rarely home, and the HVAC company only had short and specific time slots available for inspections. Some of my kids were upset when I had to cancel their plans and extracurriculars, but I reminded them that getting the air conditioner fixed as quickly as possible would allow them to get back to their regular routines quickly too. Everyone has had trouble sleeping since we normally keep the thermostat at a very cold sixty-two degrees at night, so I was also able to use that as an incentive to calm them down. It was a headache, but I’m really happy that we were able to get that taken care of.

Word spread about how superb Grandma was that she got better deals & a newspaper wrote about her… Ever since Ivy was born, her Grandma has always taught her that she can be anything; There are no limits to what the human brain can achieve & she has a perfect example in Grandma, and ivy’s Grandma is still strong & her Heating & A/C business is now regional. She wants Ivy to train so that she takes over from her 1 afternoon, but her Grandma is fast approaching her retirement years. Before, her plan was to sell the business, but now with Ivy on her way to becoming a Heating & A/C professional, the plans have changed. Ivy’s Grandma plans to groom her more about running a business once she’s done with Heating & A/C school. That way, she can know both sides that make the Heating & A/C business work. Ivy goes to school full time & works at the family business part time which is part of her training.
