My home is pretty darn shaded.

I have woods on all four sides of me; Frequently our partner plus I are trying to get light in the house, the people I was with and I have painted the rooms all light colors.

The people I was with and I have added more overhead lights plus outdoor lighting. The people I was with and I even have added significantly more windows in the home all in the name of making things brighter, then what is different is that there are only two rooms in the home that get sunshine exposure, and my partner’s office has sunlight pouring into it at a certain time of afternoon. The guest lavatory also gets quite a bit of sunshine around the afternoon. It seemed wrong to block off the only sunshine with blinds or curtains. I think our partner easily loved his office view as well. I started looking online plus found that there are residential sunshine control window films, then you add a proactive layer inside the home on the glass. You can choose to have it clear or opaque from the outside. The people I was with and I decided to make it visible from inside plus outside the house. So our sunshine control window film only has a slight light gray tint that doesn’t affect the view. All it does is stop the sunshine from coming inside the home plus prevents the glare in our partner’s eyes. Now the office does not think so darn tepid in the afternoon either! He can care about working with a view all afternoon. The lavatory also is much better with the window film, but only doing those two windows was easily cost effective as well.

When I moved into an old house the first thing that I wanted to do was modernize it.

• This wasn’t any sort of special old house, it was just a house that had been neglected and was run down and needed a lot of tinder love and care to get back to a good place.

My husband and I both love DIY projects and so restoring the old house or something that was going to be a lot of fun for us. Since the heating and AC system was the part of the house I was in the first condition we decided to tackle that issue first. One of the things that we had a hard time deciding on was what kind of heating and cooling system we are going to replace anyways. There was so many different heating and AC units that were available from our local heat and cooling provider that we had no idea which one to choose. We decided to get some advice from the professionals. We went down to the heating and AC store. We told one of the HVAC technicians there about our situation and asked for advice on what would work best for her home. The HVAC technician advised us to explain our current situation in detail and so we did. After getting his input and doing further research we ultimately decided to go with an electric furnace for the heating system and a standard Central cooling system for the AC. However we have thought about upgrading to a geothermal heat pump in the future.

It was time to replace the Old furnace.

• I’ve had the same furnace for quite a long time now, and while it hasn’t reached the end of its life yet it is pretty outdated and I’m looking to have something more modern to my home.

I have an old oil furnace and I would rather go with something more efficient, the thing I have in mind is an electric furnace. I have been doing a lot of research online about the benefits of different types of furnaces. There are three main types of furnaces: gas furnaces, oil furnaces, and electric furnaces and while I knew that I could always replace my oil furnace with a more modern version of an oil furnace, I wanted to get something different. From what I was finding, I was of the opinion that an electric furnace would be the most beneficial to me. So I went ahead and purchased the electric furnace from my local heating and AC corporation. I then called the HVAC business over the phone and scheduled an installation date. My installation date was 2 weeks from today. Those two weeks started to go by fast because before I knew it the heating and AC technicians were already at my home performing the installation of the electric furnace. I know some people get sad to see their old heating and AC system go, especially if they had it for a long time but I am thrilled to have a new furnace. I loved the idea of modernizing my home.

I feel embarrassed to say it, but I have gone way too long without having my ductwork cleaned. In fact I went so long that is starting to take a toll on my indoor air quality. The reason I was waiting so long to take care of my ductwork was because I hate the whole process of having to have a heating and AC specialist come out to my home to clean it. Inconvenient for me to have to worry about waiting for the appointment to come around, and then waiting for the heating and AC guy to come up to my home, and then waiting around even more for the heating and AC guy to get my ductwork clean like I want it and then leave. I’d rather just come home from work and then take the rest of my day to do nothing. But of course I can’t normally do that, I often have other things I have to do around the house and unfortunately for me taking care of the ductwork is just one of those things. I will admit, I’m feeling pretty lazy today and so that’s probably why I’m feeling this way, but I would just like to relax for a while and I have to worry about some heating and AC guy. However if I want clean air ducts and good indoor air quality I knew that I was going to have to schedule an appointment. So that is exactly what I decided to do. I scheduled the heating and AC appointment for a Saturday when I would be off. Luckily for me, when the heat and AC guy came over to clean my ductwork he was really fast and efficient. I was dreading the appointment thinking that it would take hours but it actually took him half an hour and the job was done much quicker than I anticipated.

I have the perfect thermostat.

What everybody else is getting is a smart thermostat.

I was really skeptical about getting one myself. I didn’t really see the need for getting a smart thermostat after all, if my current’s thermostat was working perfectly fine why would I need to get another one? It just didn’t make a lot of sense to me but that was because at the time I didn’t know about all the benefits that my programmable thermostat provided. With a programmable thermostat not only can you save money on your heating and cooling bills, but you can also control your temperature in your home from anywhere. So you don’t even have to be at your house to turn on your heating or air conditioning system. Isn’t that amazing? The more I learned about smart thermostats and how they actually worked, the more I started to see the benefits in getting one. Until eventually I caved and decided to get one myself. I have made a lot of decisions in life but getting a smart thermostat had to be one of the best ones. Now I never have to worry about turning on my heating and AC system myself, all I do is program the thermostat turned on at a certain time and it will already be running for me when I get home. It’s amazing and I love it. It will save you a lot of time and money just by using the smart thermostat.

When I went to the grocery store this weekend there were a few things that I had to pick up on my list that I don’t normally purchase.

One of these was some new air filters.

Normally I would buy my air filter for my heating and AC company, but I just noticed within this past week that my local grocery store has started carrying the same air filter that I buy from my local heating and AC business. When given the option I decided to buy from the grocery store rather than my local HVAC business. This is because the local leading and cooling company overcharges for the air filters. I can get them for almost half the price then if I was to buy them at the heating and AC company. Since I was going to be buying the air filters while I was at the grocery store I decided to make a list of any other HVAC products I might need while I was there. I had been considering getting an air purifier for a while but it was nothing that I needed right away. I found the section where I had the air filters and I picked up a few of them and took them home. From there I installed them into my heating and cooling system. I noticed a difference in my indoor air quality. I can’t believe that I went in as long as I did and that I have my air filter changed. Seeing how good my indoor air quality made me wish I had done it sooner.
