Olivia knew she shouldn’t have done it, but her fiance had been laboring on the church’s Heating and A/C system well into the night, and he was sleepy. She phoned her sibling to see if he could help repair their oil furnace. Olivia knew her sibling wasn’t an Heating and A/C serviceman, but she knew she was handy. She thought she could hand tools to her fiance, or deliver him an extra hand if needed. If nothing else, her sibling could help keep him awake. When he showed up, he bought 2 packs of beer with him, and he immediately opened one for himself, and one for Olivia’s fiance. Her fiance told him he had to repair the oil furnace, and he didn’t want to drink, but Olivia’s sibling didn’t believe one beer would make a sizable difference. Her fiance looked at her and raised an eyebrow. She shook our head no, and she handed the beer to her. She dumped it in the sink, which made her sibling angry. He said he paid good money for that beer, as well as if she was just going to throw it away, he would have drunk it. Her fiance tried to explain that he didn’t enjoy drinking when he had to work the next day. He was working on the oil furnace, and it upset him because he could do more damage if he was drinking. Olivia’s sibling said that was a fair answer, and asked if they minded if he had a couple more. His fiance was monitoring every beer he drank, and he was tired of her nagging.
a/c set up
It doesn’t take a genius to be an HVAC technician.
I have dyslexia which doesn’t make me stupid, but it is a learning disability.
Some people think that dyslexia makes you stupid, but those people knew nothing about Einstein, or many other geniuses who have dyslexia.
Last week, I proved to people that I wasn’t as stupid as they thought I was. I was still having a difficult time reading and doing math, but it was because my letters and numbers were jumbled. When I told the instructor at the HVAC school about my dyslexia, he shook my hand and told me welcome to the group. He said he had a horrible time with his dyslexia, and if it hadn’t been for a teacher who recognized his disability, he wouldn’t have gone to HVAC school. He asked me if I had an easier time if they gave me verbal tests instead of written tests. Most of my teachers didn’t care about doing that. They just wanted to push me on to the next grade. He told me that whenever there were tests, he would give me an oral exam. He also offered to send his son to my home and help me study. His son also had dyslexia. He said they understood what I was going through. I didn’t think I could ever thank the instructor and his son, until I joined their HVAC company right out of school. Without the HVAC instructor and his son, I wouldn’t be where I am now. I own one of the biggest HVAC companies in our state, and my son is in line to take over when I retire in a couple of years.
My daughter swore spiders were crawling from the air vent.
When I heard my daughter scream, I knew there was something terribly wrong. She pointed to the air vent and kept saying spiders. I opened the air vent cover while my wife calmed our daughter down, but I saw nothing. I started putting the air vent cover back on when I saw a large spider crawling through. I immediately knew what was happening. I called my son and told him he had to get himself to his sister’s bedroom. I pointed to the spider coming out of the air vent and asked if he had put it there. He said it wasn’t one that would bite, and he didn’t think it would hurt anything. I told him his sister was petrified of the spider, and it was still inside the air vent. He brought his spider cage to her room and carefully pulled the spider from the air vent and put it in his cage. I made him apologize to his sister, and he had to sleep in her room for the night. The next day, he released the spider back into the garden. He wasn’t happy because I made him release the spider, but he understood. I told him if I had called the HVAC company and the exterminator, he would have been paying both bills. I’m hoping he learned his lesson, but if he’s anything like I was, I’ve got a feeling this was just the beginning of the pranks. I just hope our daughter and the HVAC system are going to survive them all. I’m not sure I will.
She said she heard bees in her ductwork.
Being the superintendent of a large apartment building, I get a lot of odd service calls.
Last week, one of my apartment dwellers called and told me she heard bees in her ductwork. I had never heard of such a thing, so instead of telling her she was nuts, I went up to her apartment. I could hear some humming coming from the ductwork, but I couldn’t hear bees. She told me to get closer to the air vent, and I would know what she was talking about. I put my ear to the air vent, and I listened closely. There was a hum and I could faintly hear a noise that could be a buzz. The longer I listened, the more I heard the noise she was hearing. I started knocking on the walls, but that made no difference in the sound. I thought that if bees could have gotten into the ductwork, knocking would make the noise louder, or send a stray bee out of the air vent. I called the HVAC company, and they said they would come over the next morning. In the meantime, I was going to cover the air vents, but if she had bees in the ductwork, the entire building would have bees in the ductwork. I told the tenant the HVAC technician would be there in the morning, and everything would be taken care of then. On my way out of her apartment, I heard some odd noises coming from the apartment next door. The owners had a toy for the dog that was a buzzing and jumping ball, and it was vibrating through the air vents.
Are you sure you need a furnace?
Last week, I called the HVAC company because it was always cold in our house. I told him I thought there was something wrong with the furnace. My husband had recently replaced all the windows and had put insulation around the windows and doors, so I knew we didn’t have a loss of heat. I was sure there had to be something wrong with the furnace. We had an HVAC technician come to the house a month earlier, and he told us the furnace is on its last leg. He told us he could get it working for another month, but that was it. We needed to discuss what furnace we wanted to replace this one, and give them a call. Here we were, less than a month later, and the furnace was no longer working. I told the HVAC technician about the man and asked if he was available. He told us he had moved on to another HVAC company and asked if he could look at the furnace. Once he looked at the furnace, he could give us a better idea of what we may need. When he came upstairs, he looked at both of us and asked if we were sure we needed a new furnace? I told him what the HVAC technician had told us and asked if there was a problem. He walked outside, and we heard him on the phone. When he came back inside, he said another HVAC technician would be there in five minutes. The owner of the HVAC company showed up and had us look at a picture. It was the HVAC technician who said we needed a new furnace. He thanked us, and walked outside with his phone in hand.
I called my brother to help repair our furnace.
He said he paid good money for that beer, and if I was just going to throw it away, he would have drunk it.

I thought he could hand tools to my husband, or give him an extra hand if needed. If nothing else, my brother could help keep him awake. When he showed up, he brought two six packs of beer with him, and he immediately opened one for himself, and one for my husband. My husband told him he had to repair the furnace, and he didn’t want to drink, but my brother didn’t think one beer would make a big difference. My husband looked at me and raised an eyebrow. I shook my head no, and he handed the beer to me. I dumped it in the sink, which made my brother angry. Heating and A/C workers were not like the mail carriers.
Of course, my Heating and A/C worker is my wife plus if the furnace or a/c component isn’t working well, she is suffering right along with me
My mother used to say that everyone who does a service for the public, should be just like the mail carriers! According to her, the mail carriers used to be right on time when she was a kid. It was like you could set your clock by them. I wondered if Heating and A/C workers were like mail carriers back then, because they were just like our mail carrier is now, you never know when she is going to arrive; One day, the mail will be there by 11 AM plus the next time they don’t show up until after 4 PM. I was absolutely angry when she left a package standing out in the rain, because she didn’t want to carry it the extra ten feet to my porch. At least the Heating and A/C dealer tells you when the Heating and A/C worker will be there, even though they tell you she also has a three-hour window. I know our Heating and A/C worker are nothing like the mail carriers… Everyone is always complaining about the Heating and A/C worker, even though I hear more complaints about the mail carriers. I cherish my Heating and A/C worker. I never need to call the Heating and A/C dealer more than once. She is always there on time, plus I know he’ll do an excellent job. Of course, my Heating and A/C worker is my wife plus if the furnace or a/c component isn’t working well, she is suffering right along with me. My Dad used to tell me she wasn’t fine enough for me, even though I knew she was wrong. I think she knows it now, because last week she said everyone should have an Heating and A/C worker like mine.
