My hubby and I had been married for more than ten years. I knew he was a Heating, Ventilation and A/C professional. He was an Heating, Ventilation and A/C professional when I met him, and he was still an Heating, Ventilation and A/C professional. Everyone knew what he did for a living, because he talked about nothing else. I hated to say it, but there were some things more important to talk about than Heating, Ventilation and A/C. There was something I needed to tell him, although he wouldn’t shut up long enough for me to say anything. I was getting to the point where I wanted to gag him, tie him to the bed, and have a one-sided conversation with him when he could not talk. One evening, we were sitting at the dinner table, when he started droning on about his job again. He chuckled every now and then, but I didn’t hear a word he was saying. He gave me a glass of wine, and I declined. Normally he would say something when I say no to wine, but he was so into his story, that he didn’t even seem to notice it. I got up and went to the bathroom, and he smiled when I returned. He picked up with his story about his latest Heating, Ventilation and A/C goofy story, and I rolled my eyes. He stopped for a drink, and I told him if he said one more word about Heating, Ventilation and A/C, I was going to smack the heck out of him. He immediately stopped talking and his smile disappeared. He told me all I had to do was say something. I shouted I was pregnant, which got me a kiss, although he went into a story about a pregnant lady who was having heat flashes.

I kept telling my hubby there was something wrong with the air conditioning system unit, but he didn’t believe me at first.

He worked at night, and that was when things glitched.

The lights kept turning on and off every time the air conditioning system unit was on. You didn’t notice it in the daytime, because we didn’t have the lights on, but at night, it was noticeable. I knew it had to be electrical, and it scared me that we could have a fire while he was at work. I called the Heating, Ventilation and A/C company hoping my hubby would notice the flashing lights before they arrived. My hubby called off work one night because he wanted to use up some of his vacation time. He was in the basement when the air conditioning system was turned on. He asked if I noticed the lights flashing and I told him the air conditioning system component was turned on. I also told him I had called the Heating, Ventilation and A/C company. He told me to call an electrician and have them look at the electrical system! Finally, he had seen what I had been talking about for the last couple of weeks. He wouldn’t be making a fuss when he saw the bill from the Heating, Ventilation and A/C company or the electrician. When I made the phone calls the next day, he told me to try to make the appointments with the Heating, Ventilation and A/C company and the electrician when he was home. He gave me a list of the days he planned to take off work, and said any of them would do. Soon after, we went on a nice holiday and forgot all about our air conditioning system.

Six months ago, my brother and I got in a terrible fight that didn’t end well.

We almost hit each other before he walked out, and I hadn’t talked to him since.

I felt guilty for the things I had said, even though he provoked me. I wanted him back in my life, but I didn’t know how to approach him. I was talking to my spouse about my regrets over the fight, and she told me to apologize. Even if it meant sending him a card for his anniversary, I needed to talk to him. When I didn’t make the overture, my spouse decided she had to. She called the Heating, Ventilation and A/C company he worked in and told them we were concerned with our heater, and the UV air purifier wasn’t working well. They assigned a Heating, Ventilation and A/C professional to us, and she mentioned my brother. I didn’t know we had problems with the Heating, Ventilation and A/C system, so when I saw the repair van in the driveway, I was shocked. I didn’t know my spouse was still talking to my brother’s spouse, so I was doubly surprised to see my brother in the basement. Within five minutes my friend and I were talking and laughing like nothing had happened. I took a deep breath, and apologized for everything I had said, and he apologized also. He looked at me and said all I had to do was call and make sure that something was wrong with the heating system. I smiled, knowing my spouse brought us back together. I had to make sure to take her out to dinner, or maybe my brother and I could all go out for dinner together!

When mom called in tears, I knew there was something wrong; she told me she could not live alone anymore and asked if my offer for her to move in was still open. I told her to let us know when she was ready, and we would have her room ready for her. She wanted to know if the following weekend would be okay. The room was ready, but the bathroom was still unfinished; we still needed Heating, Ventilation and A/C there. I called my hubby and told him mom was moving in a week. He told me to make a list of things we needed for the bathroom, and I needed to call the Heating, Ventilation and A/C company and have them install the ductless Heating, Ventilation and A/C system in the room. I then called my brother-in-law and asked if he was available during the weekend. I explained the situation and he said he would be over on Tuesday and he could have the bathroom installed by the end of the weekend. My partner and I were in a mad rush to get the bathroom done, but the Heating, Ventilation and A/C professional could not get here until the Monday before mom arrived. It surprised me at how quickly the Heating, Ventilation and A/C was installed. The Heating, Ventilation and A/C professional had it installed before my hubby and his brother had the shower installed. Everything was ready for mom, and all I had to do was go up to the farm and put it up for sale. I knew this would be the hardest part, because I had to close up the apartment and pack all the things mom wanted to bring with her. She didn’t realize she had a giant study room, a sitting room, and a bathroom, and she was thrilled to know she had us and her granddaughter as company.

Right before my ex-hubby left, he had central air conditioning system installed in the house. I wasn’t sure why he had a modern Heating, Ventilation and A/C system installed if he wasn’t going to be living here, but I thanked him. My ex and I hadn’t gotten along in years, and I wished him luck when he said he had found someone else and was leaving. We had already talked about divorce, and we were still friends. I enjoyed the heater, and it kept me warm and cozy all winter season long, but during the summer last year, I deeply detested it. The air conditioning system unit was overworked, and it never cooled the apartment properly. I was used to window air conditioning system units, and I wanted them back. I went to the basement to see if they were down there. I was planning on turning the central air conditioning system off and putting the window air conditioning system units back in. When I didn’t find them in the basement, I looked in the attic, but had no luck. My last resort was to go into the garage. The garage was my last option because it’s so dark and depressing down there. Had I known my ex had cleaned it out before leaving, I may have gone in there first. Not only was it cleaned out, he also had the window air conditioning system units on a shelf. I called a neighbor of mine and asked if he could help me out. Two hours later, we had the window air conditioning system units installed, the central air conditioning system was out of the way, and my friend and I spent the rest of the evening celebrating and drinking wine.

I wish someone told me I needed to measure my window before buying an air conditioning system unit; then, I wouldn’t be in the mess I was in.

I walked into the store and told them I needed a window air conditioning system unit for my study room, but no one said they had different options or that they were different BTUs.

I knew how large my study room was and gave him the dimensions. He quickly figured out many BTUs I needed and pointed out more than two air conditioning system units that toil for my study room, and one looked big, and I was afraid it would be too bulky for me to lift and install. I wasn’t small and weak, but I wasn’t a monster like some men I knew either. I looked at the smaller one and although it had the same BTU on the label, it weighed a mere fifty pounds. I hefted the A/C component and knew it was the right one for me, but the man didn’t tell me it had to be jammed on both sides and that there was nothing to fan out and create a narrow fit. I got the A/C component home, opened up the box, and took it into my study room. I had it seated in the window and the window was down, but I had four inches of open air space on both sides of the window. Now, what was I going to do? The instructions said to build a box for the air conditioning system unit. It was made to go in the wall and not in a window. I called my brother and told him I needed help, because I wasn’t going back for another air conditioning system unit.

Working remotely comes with some schedule changes in the Summer.

This is something that I learned three years at the height of the pandemic.

It was also the time that I first worked anywhere but inside the zone controlled HVAC of the office. I loved the heating and cooling in that place. Being dressed professionally can be pretty miserable if there isn’t a priority on quality heating and air in the office. While I still miss that zone controlled HVAC in that office, I sure don’t miss the suits. And I don’t miss the office environment as a whole either. Once I figured out the rhythm of working remotely from the central air conditioning of my home, my work really improved. That made it easy for me to just stay home when the office reopened. However, when the Summer months get here, I have to change up my schedule since I have to pay for the air conditioning in my home. In the Summer, I like to get up well before dawn to get started on my work for the day. Most of my work is done by deadline and I also collaborate with others. So getting started early allows me to get much of my work done prior to the peak heating hours of the day. Once lunchtime rolls around, I put work on hold and get into air conditioning that I don’t have to pay for. This is the time I do my errands and enjoy the commercial HVAC of stores where I shop. I keep the thermostat near 80 during the peak heating hours. So when I come home, I crank the fans and catch up on the emails for the day before the smart thermostat starts cooling the house down.
