Throughout the last couple of years, my wife and I have noticed a lot of dust on the interior surfaces in our home.

At first I thought the problem was not dusting enough.

I realized that was not the issue when my wife started dusting everyday and we still had dust and dirt on all of the surfaces in our home. I read about this type of problem online. A lot of people suggested the issue could be with our ductwork. When there is a buildup of dust, dirt, and debris inside out the ductwork, every time the heater or air conditioner runs, the dust and debris is spread all over the house. I contacted a local HVAC company that handles this type of service on ductwork and HVAC systems. The service company sent two technicians to my house the next day. They used a camera to look inside of the ductwork. They took about a dozen pictures of the interior angles of the ductwork. It was very easy to see all of the dust and dirt that had built up inside of the duct work over the last 10 years. My wife and I never expected to see such a mess inside of our home. After the service company finished with all of the detailed work, they took after pictures to show us how things had changed. The service company absolutely got rid of all that dust and dirt and now my family and I are breathing much more easily. We will probably have this service performed yearly, since we know how well it works.

My wife and I called a couple of people to give us an estimate for some work that needed to be done in the house.

We wanted to remodel the bathroom and replace the tub and shower.

We wanted to update the flooring, sink, and vanity. I spoke with a couple of contractors and last weekend we had several people in the house to give us an estimate on the work. One of the contractors gave us a ridiculously low estimate. It was nearly half the cost of the other estimates. My wife and I did not believe the price reflected all of the work that needed to be done. We carefully reviewed the invoice and we didn’t find a line for the radiant heated flooring that we wanted installed in the bathroom. I asked the contractor if the estimate included the ductless Heating. The reason why the invoice was so inexpensive was due to the fact that the contractor completely forgot about the ductless radiant heated flooring. Once he added that amount to the estimate, the price was much closer to the other three estimates that we received on the job. We decided to choose the contractor with the best online reviews. The contractor wasn’t the cheapest option, but he definitely had the best ideas to put our plan into action. Next weekend we plan to have all of the work completed. We’re going to stay in a hotel on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, so the contractors can do everything they need without any interruptions from our family.

It’s hard to find good parking in the city, especially on the weekends.

Downtown is always busy on Saturdays and Sundays.

There are always activities and events with live music and food. Last weekend there was an event held by the police department. They were there to promote the new Police Athletic League. The streets were lined with vendors selling arts, crafts, and food. My girlfriend wanted to go to the festival, but I had to work that day. I had a couple of furnace repair calls to handle and I was the only repair technician scheduled that day. One of my repair jobs was downtown in the same area as the event. I had to park my truck several blocks away from the address and I was still in the middle of the party scene. I packed up all of my tools into a bag and I started to leave the truck. A police officer stopped me from leaving and told me that I had to move my truck. I wasn’t parked in a no-parking Zone and there were no street signs that said no parking. The police officer informed me that they were going to have a parade in 2 hours and my vehicle would be parked right in the middle of things. Since I was a repair technician, the police officer believed I might take longer than 2 hours and he did not want to hunt me down to get me to move the truck. Luckily, the officer hooked me up with a spot close to the apartment where I was working on a heating and AC problem.

Last week was extremely busy and I wanted to call out sick on Friday.

I worked three hours of overtime every day Monday through Thursday and I didn’t need the hours from Friday to hit the 48-hour mark. I thought about calling my boss early that morning, but I decided to go to work instead. There were a couple of repair jobs on the schedule. The first job on my agenda was a compact boiler repair. I drove across town to the commercial business and Warehouse. The owner was not there and he was the person that needed to approve the boiler repair. There was no reason for me to evaluate the system. If the owner could not approve repairs, there was honestly no reason for me to be there at all. I left the compact boiler repair and traveled 5 miles down the interstate to one of our additional commercial HVAC customers. I was performing a routine service check up on the air purifiers that are installed in this particular business. A lot of our customers have air purifiers due to the covid virus, but this particular place has air purifiers for a different reason. This factory handles volatile chemicals and organic compounds. The odors in the air can be overwhelming and sometimes the fumes can be intoxicating. The factory has two large industrial air purifiers in the building. Once every month we go to the business to check on the machines and service and clean them. It’s part of the rental package that we offer to all of our commercial clients.

During the week, we offer Emergency Services overnight.

The fees are quite high, so most of our customers decide to wait until the next morning when we are open for regular business hours.

Last Friday night, I was working the emergency service shift. The phone rang around midnight and a customer was frantic because she did not have any heat in her apartment. I told the customer that we charge a fee for after hours repairs. He did not seem concerned about the fee. She still wanted me to handle the repair as soon as possible. I hung up the phone and crawled out of bed. I decided to take a shower, because I was still very sleepy. While I was in the shower, the customer called a second time. She left a message. The lady wanted to know if I had left already. It was only 10 minutes after she called the first time. I listen to the voicemail. While I was listening to the voicemail, the customer called again. I didn’t switch over to the phone call quickly enough and she left another voicemail. She called a third time while I was on my way to her address. I didn’t bother answering the phone, because I was already on the way. I probably should have listened to the third phone call, because the third phone call was that customer calling to postpone the repair until the next morning. When I arrived at her home, all of the lights were shut off and no one answered the front door.

Spring and summer months are filled with lots of rain and sunshine. Sometimes it will rain all day and the sun still shines. I don’t mind the rain much at all. The temperatures drop when the rain comes and it is a nice break from the heat. A few months ago we had a terrible storm that knocked out the power. I was hoping the power would be turned back on the next morning, but there was a great deal of damage from the storm. Several trees came down in the heavy winds and the branches caused several power lines to be damaged. The power was out the entire next day. I tried to use the generator so I could run that air conditioner. It was 90 degrees that day and none of my neighbors and I had any way to control the indoor temperature. The generator had trouble keeping up with the demand, so I had to shut off the air conditioner. I needed to keep the refrigerator and the freezer cold. With the air conditioner running, there was a strain on the generator. I sat with my neighbor later that afternoon. He has a much larger generator than I do and it worked well. He had the ability to keep the indoor temperature comfortable while still keeping the refrigerator and freezer ice cold. I was happy when the power finally came back on later that evening. I did not want to spend another night trying to sleep without any way to control the indoor temperature. I can’t sleep well when it’s warm indoors.

The last day of the week is always the longest day for me.

The last day of the week for me is on Friday.

On Friday, it seems like everyone has trouble with the furnace or air conditioner. Last Friday I was hoping to get home early, but the day got longer and longer. I had an early-morning ductless HVAC installation job. The installation job took several hours and I finished up shortly after lunch. I had an HVAC tune up that afternoon as well as a repair call. The HVAC tune-up took a lot longer than I anticipated, due to a problem with the evaporator coils. I did not expect to spend two two hours making repairs to the HVAC system in that home. The customer did not expect that problem either. She was upset when she found out that the air conditioning system needed several hundreds of dollars of repairs. Thankfully, the last job of the day turned out to be relatively simple. It wasn’t an AC repair, but the problem turned out to be a lack of refrigeration liquid. Once I filled the refrigeration liquid, the AC unit started acting just like it should. When I finally got home at the end of the day, I was happy to see that my wife made my favorite meal. We had sausage and hamburger meatloaf with mashed potatoes, gravy, steamed carrots, and pumpkin pie. After a long week, it was nice to come home to a delicious dinner. It was a great way to start our weekend of spending time together.
