It is a rainy one today.

There are a bunch of surfers out because we have some nice rollers coming in.

I went for my morning dip today and what a battle I had with the waves trying to wash over me and suck me out to sea. The riptide was tremendous and I had a hard time staying on my feet, it kept trying to pull me out to sea. Luckily, the surfers were out in the distance so if I did get pulled out they would be able to help me get back in. I am going to the local contractor today to see if they have any new smart thermostats yet. The guy working there said they will get a few in this week and I am in need of one so I want to make sure I am the first one there when they arrive. The old man HEPA filter clerk told me that he would call me when they come in but I know that sometimes he forgets so it’s better just to go down there and see for myself. I have an old thermostat that is not functioning very well anymore and I would like to get a wifi thermostat in place of it. I don’t think they cost that much and I think I can pay with my Bitcoin. I can’t wait till Bitcoin is accepted everywhere. I want to get an HVAC tune up also and I think the old man said he would come and do it for free one day.

It is very cold and rainy out today and I have my furnace cooking away in the background.

I may even light a fire in my fireplace to add a little color and sound to my life today.

I am happy to be all cozy in my flat when the weather is so nasty outside. Actually, I wouldn’t call it nasty that sounds bad, it’s just cold and wet out and I would rather be in a warm and dry place. My cat is sleeping on the air purifier, which is actually turned on right now and running, and I think it has made its new bed on top of it. I have a strange cat that won’t let me pet it yet as it seems to be still scared of me after living here for almost two months. The guy at the HVAC company told me that it can take a year for a cat to warm up to you if it has been mistreated in the past. I guess I just need to be patient and let it come to me when it is good and ready. I think it likes my fireplace because a lot of the time it is sleeping near the fire as it is popping and crackling. I guess it is natural for an animal to like one of the elements of nature. I think I will check my furnace filter and make sure it is clean because I am sneezing a lot this morning and it is probably filled with dust and whatnot.

I starting black smithing with my grandfather as soon as I was old enough to work near excessive heat.

No one else in my family ever took interest in my grandfather’s trade until I told him at 12 that I wanted to learn everything he knew.

Despite trying to dissuade me from following in his path, he eventually started letting me help him from time to time. It was part bonding with my grandfather and part learning an amazing trade that goes back millenia to some of the earliest ages of mankind. Like anyone else in the trade, I burned my hands more times than I’d like to admit. The burns and frustration with early failures are part of the experience of learning to be a professional black smith. These days you can learn a lot by watching Youtube videos as well, which is the only consistent source of information for me now that my grandfather is no longer alive. He always wanted to live long enough to see me open my own black smith business, but sadly his cancer claimed his life sooner than we were all hoping. However, I feel proud that I’m finally one step closer to realizing our shared dream of my being a professional black smith just like my grandfather. I am building a shop space for my equipment, but I need to find shop space for rent until my renovations are complete. There is a new industrial park on the other side of the interstate exit and I learned that there is shop space for rent in one of the buildings. Based on the information I found online, I should be able to afford renting shop space at this location.

Over the past weeks, the people I was with and I have observed that the dining hall gets super stuffy, and occasionally it’s hard to breathe in there.

The two of us usually open the windows to help with the indoor air pollen levels! She needed a worker to disinfect the air ducts & repair the thermostat. I sent a repair worker with the customer to assist with the cleaning process. The two of us also threw in a complimentary tune-up for her heat pump which made him less angry, she even enjoyed it. It was long & it seemed everyone was in a poor mood, however our team & I powered through.
