I recently went with a new local contractor when I needed my HVAC maintenance. I’ve gone through many HVAC companies in the local area, but I feel it’s good to give a little bit of my business to other places, not only going through one local contractor. I actually was surprised when I received an email asking how my service was with their HVAC company. So I decided to fill out a little questionnaire rating their services which I gave them 5 stars all the way. First of all, the HVAC professional who came out was early, at least by 15 minutes. Next, the guy was very polite and seemed to know everything about heating and AC equipment. There wasn’t a question we asked that he couldn’t answer. While I have had pleasant experiences in the past with numerous local contractors, I might even go as far to say that this HVAC company provided me with one of the best experiences. I don’t think I’m only going to use the services of this local contractor though, but I might keep going with them as long as I keep having glowing experiences. Some of these HVAC companies have asked if I wanted to enroll into an HVAC service plan, but honestly, I can’t see myself staying committed to just one business for all of my homeowner solutions. I think it’s great though that so many local contractors treat their clients so well. I must say, if you are having any issues with your HVAC equipment, you definitely need to call one of your local HVAC companies right away. You won’t be disappointed when you have the HVAC experts there to help you out.
This heat is just horrible
It is a constant fight to stay cool in my area.
This heat is just terrible. I can’t stand that my weather is 90 degrees by 11am. I hate that I worry about 100 degree weather all the time. I used to live in the north and the cold was the problem. I owned three separate heating systems in order to keep myself warm. I still wore pants and a sweatshirt inside. I invested in a snowblower, snow scraper and an automatic start so I could begin the car heating system early to melt the ice. It was a horrible way to live. I was sick of always being cold. It was winter from September to May basically. Moving down south means I have the opposite problem. Where is winter? I miss the cold. I hate this horrible heat that plagues me all year. This summer season is especially hot. My poor air conditioner can barely keep up. It just runs and runs all day long. Thankfully I got the cooling system checked out recently. I made sure everything is all lubricated, cleaned and has enough refrigerant inside. I couldn’t go one minute without proper AC. I then had to add AC to my gym and a small cooling unit to my tool shed so that my tools didn’t rust. It is a constant fight to stay cool in my area. I wonder if there are places that actually have nice temperatures most of the year. I feel living down south in the summer is just as brutal as a northern winter. It is a different awful time but still horrible.
Becoming a cat mom
I am a cat mom now and it is a whole new world. I never wanted to own a cat, but this particular one decided that I was his new owner. He started out by sleeping in my car and then bursting into my home when I opened the door. Then I started feeding him with specialty cat food, bought him a flea collar, hypoallergenic litter and a bunch of cat scratchers. He is now super spoiled. He has his own giant cat bed, cat tree and all sorts of toys. He really chose his mother well. Anything that bothers my cat is removed too. I noticed that the sound of sprays brother him, so I just don’t spray anything anymore. I am careful when I blend or tear aluminum foil too. My HVAC system was getting old anweya, but it made a horrible clicking sound when it turned on. My cat would freak out and hide when the HVAC powered on. I couldn’t let my prince be scared. So I talked to the local HVAC dealer and bought a new system. I now have heated flooring in the winter that is a silent heating system. In the summer I use window air conditioner units in certain rooms of the house. The cat of course has perfectly controlled temperature all year around. His bedroom has both heating and cooling. I have everything in its quietest, gentlest setting too. I wouldn’t want to disturb his highness while he is sleeping. He is my greedy, needy boy and I love him so much.
Made a mistake not getting heated flooring
When my husband and I bought our home we decided the carpets had to go.
The rugs were a hideous brown, all stretched out and dirty.
I just hated them. I decided I wanted all tile floors so I could easily sweep or mop them. I found myself a nice gray porcelain tile that looks very classy. While we were doing the flooring installation I asked my husband about heated flooring. We were ripping the flooring up anyway. That was the only time this heating system could be installed. Tile flooring might feel colder than carpet too. My husband’s point was we already owned a heating system. We live down south. How cold could it get? He also didn’t want to add more time to the project and money. In the end we agreed on no heated flooring. Now that I have lived in my house for a year, I regret not doing the heated flooring. I would have loved to have warm tile in the wintertime. Now the tile feels icy cold and is unpleasant to walk in. In the summer it is nice but that is only 65% of the time. I ended up buying quite a few throw rugs to give the flooring a warmer, softer feel. I had to cover up all that brand new tile! I am not pleased with this choice at all. Someday I am going to rip up the tile and do heated flooring. My current heating system is going to die any day now too. It would have been perfect if we owned another heating device to take its place.

My kitchen needs to have some type of heating system. What is unfortunate is that there is a gas fireplace right in the living room. The distance is just too great. The kitchen also has a bunch of windows that just seem to let in cold air. I have caulked and added insulation, it doesn’t fix it. For years I dealt with a ventless heater on the floor of the kitchen. It wasn’t very good at providing heat. It basically pooped out cold air and occasionally would spit out warm air. It frequently clogged up with dust and threatened to light my house on fire. When I realized it was time for a kitchen remodel, I needed to consider the heating system. I didn’t want another heater that takes up floor space. I wanted that room for a lower cabinet. I also didn’t want something that plugs into the wall either. I hunted around for options and I found heated flooring to be the solution. I didn’t want a wall mounted indoor air handler since those are big eyesores. With heated flooring it is seagull under the title and out of sight. It warms everything that touches it and doesn’t waste energy by allowing heat to rise. It is silent when operational and doesn’t stir up dust since it is electric based. What was great is that I was able to save some money on the heating installation myself. I bought the electric heated mats at the hardware store and did the installation all on my own.
I need AC when working out
I have been seriously thinking about investing in some type of gym air conditioner.
My area just gets too hot in the summer.
We get 90 degree weather for months on end. This week it is going to get into the 100s. My poor cat frequently jumps in through the cat door to take AC breaks. He sits underneath the HVAC vent and just enjoys himself. He spends around 30-40 minutes cooling down. For me I work inside my home in perfect AC. Once my workday is done I go outside. The heat is just brutal. I get overheated, dehydrated and sweaty so quickly. I do the same thing my cat does then. However, for working out purposes, there isn’t much I can do. I need to set an alarm and start my workout before 8 am. That is the only way I am beating 90 degree heat. Even that early I still have 80 degree conditions. I use a fox fan for cooling and that isn’t enough. What I really need is a portable AC unit. I have looked into them and I am not impressed. I Don’t like that a window air conditioner looks ugly. I also would have to basically keep it in the window all year long. How annoying is that? An air conditioner that sits on the floor would take up valuable room. Basically I want a ductless mini split for my shed. It is way too powerful for the size of my gym. It would provide heating as well though. So I might just bite the bullet on this one.
Fixing up mom’s home to sell
My mother is getting ready to sell her house and it has been a nightmare for me.
She can’t really do anything on her own anymore.
So that means every project she wants done has to be hired or one of her kids does it. My mother isn’t made of money, so I Don’t want her to waste it hiring people out. She wants to get quite a bit for the house. So it makes sense to fix it up somewhat. I have painted every wall and ceiling in her house now. I have also gotten the rugs stretched, washed and smelling good. I changed all the outlets so that they are qhite and even bought her new switch plates. I fixed a leaky toilet and a faucet that was busted in the bathroom. The kitchen sink got replaced and I even found her a cheap dishwasher online. The last thing I feel that has to be fixed is the HVAC situation in the house. Her system is ancient and going to die at any minute. Anyone who tours the house is going to notice the horrible heating and cooling situation. She either needs to wait until the fall to try and sell or get a new unit. The HVAC when on makes a horrible grinding noise. I have tried fixing it myself and can’t stop it. I even called my buddy who is an HVAC contractor. He told me the HVAC equipment was just too old. It wasn’t going to last a year. I feel she should just wait until we have a moderate weather day and turn the HVAC off. Let the new homeowner deal with it.
