October Festival felt like July

In our neck of the woods, the Northeast, we normally have fairly cool Fall seasons.

This time of year is filled with festivals that celebrate the harvest and cultures such as German and Irish.

I think this is due to the fact that many of the European cultures settled this area to begin with. One of our favorite things to do as a family is attend the various Octoberfest celebrations in the area. This year, however, it has proven to be less enjoyable due to the freaky weather we have been experiencing. Where we normally have 50’s to 60’s, we have had upper 70’s to 80’s. I love dressing in jeans and sweatshirts while taking in the traditional music, foods and beverages. This year, I am walking around in shorts, sweating like crazy and drinking water instead. I wish there were indoor celebrations where they could use the air conditioner to make the festival feel more like it normally does. They could cool the room to sixty degrees and decorate with fall foliage. I am sure it would be costly but I think they would make it up in no time from the sales of food and beer. When I think of Fall I feel warm and cozy so feeling hot and sweaty is a real bummer. I wonder what they do in warmer climates to celebrate the Fall season. Maybe they treat it just like summer. I just wish that Mother Nature would turn on the natural “air conditioning” so we could enjoy out time outside more. Until that happens we will continue to run our HVAC system at home as well.

Mom’s Apple Pies

Pie making turned out to be an adventure and one that I am sure I will perfect over time

Growing up in the South must be very different. I was born and raised up North but my husband is from the deep south. He lived in a small town that borders a river and life was pretty simple. He didn’t even have a shopping center or movie theater for fifty miles. He and his siblings made their own fun and spent days lazing around in the heat, fishing or swimming. Now that he has relocated to the North he sometimes complains about the pace that everyone needs things done. The other day he asked if we could make apple pies on the weekend. I didn’t see why we had to “make” them because we could simply “buy” them at the store. He said that when he was a kid it was one of his favorite things to do with his mom. They would spend the morning in the orchard picking apples then head inside to help peel them. His mom would make the crust from scratch, slice the apples evenly, and coat them in butter and cinnamon. All of this sounded like something out of the stone ages to me, but, I wanted to make him happy so I told him I would give it a try. Thank goodness we have air conditioning because turning on the oven on a day where it is 85 degrees was the last thing I wanted to do. I cranked the air because I wanted to cool off the house really well before we even started the process. Pie making turned out to be an adventure and one that I am sure I will perfect over time. My husband was polite when I asked him how it taste but I am sure it was nothing like his mom’s.

Mom’s peach Pies

Thank goodness my pal and I have a/c because turning on the oven on a afternoon where it is 85 degrees was the last thing I wanted to do.

Growing up in the South must be actually different. I was born plus raised up North but my hubby is from the deep south. He lived in a small neighborhood that borders a river plus life was pretty easy. He didn’t even have a shopping center or theater for fifty miles. He plus his siblings made their own fun plus spent mornings lazing around in the heat, fishing or swimming… Now that he has relocated to the North he sporadically complains about the pace that everyone needs things done… The other afternoon he asked if my pal and I could make peach pies on the weekend. I didn’t see why my pal and I had to “make” them because my pal and I could simply “buy” them at the store. He said that when he was a kid it was one of his favorite things to do with his mom. They would spend the day in the orchard picking peachs then head inside to help peel them. His mom would make the crust from scratch, slice the peachs evenly, plus coat them in butter plus cinnamon. All of this sounded like something out of the granite ages to me, but, I wanted to make him happy so I told him I would give it a try. Thank goodness my pal and I have a/c because turning on the oven on a afternoon where it is 85 degrees was the last thing I wanted to do. I cranked the air because I wanted to cool off the home actually well before my pal and I even started the process. Pie making turned out to be an adventure plus one that I am sure I will perfect over time. My hubby was polite when I asked him how it taste although I am sure it was nothing like his mom’s.

September Festival felt like July

Maybe they treat it just like summer

In our neck of the woods, the Northeast, my pal and I normally have fairly cool Fall seasons. This time of year is filled with festivals that celebrate the harvest plus cultures such as German plus Irish. I believe this is due to the fact that multiple of the European cultures settled this part to begin with. One of our favorite things to do as a family is attend the many Septemberfest celebrations in the area. This year, but, it has proven to be less enjoyable due to the freaky weather my pal and I have been experiencing! Where my pal and I normally have 50’s to 60’s, my pal and I have had upper 70’s to 70’s. I care about dressing in jeans plus sweatshirts while taking in the traditional songs, foods plus beverages. This year, I am walking around in shorts, perspiring like crazy plus drinking water instead, however i wish there were indoor celebrations where they could use the a/c to make the festival feel more like it normally does. They could cool the room to sixty degrees plus decorate with fall foliage. I am sure it would be costly although I believe they would make it up in no time from the sales of food plus beer. When I believe of Fall I feel hot plus cozy so feeling sizzling plus sweaty is a real bummer. I wonder what they do in warmer weather conditionss to celebrate the Fall season. Maybe they treat it just like summer. I just wish that Mother Nature would turn on the natural “a/c” so my pal and I could love out time outside more. Until that happens my pal and I will continue to run our Heating plus A/C system at condo as well.

August Festival felt like August

In our neck of the woods, the Northeast, we normally have fairly cool Fall seasons.

  • This time of year is filled with festivals that celebrate the harvest & cultures such as German & Irish.

I suppose this is due to the fact that several of the European cultures settled this section to begin with. One of our number one things to do as a family is attend the several Augustfest celebrations in the area. This year, however, it has proven to be less fantastic due to the freaky weather we have been experiencing, however where we normally have 50’s to 60’s, we have had upper 68’s to 69’s. I appreciate dressing in jeans & sweatshirts while taking in the traditional music, foods & beverages. This year, I am walking around in shorts, perspiring like silly & drinking water instead, but i wish there were indoor celebrations where they could use the air conditioning to make the festival feel more like it normally does. They could cool the room to sixty degrees & decorate with fall foliage. I am sure it would be fancy although I suppose they would make it up in no time from the sales of food & beer. When I suppose of Fall I feel hot & cozy so feeling hot & sweaty is a real bummer. I wonder what they do in warmer temperatures to celebrate the Fall season. Maybe they treat it just like summer. Mom’s apple Pies

Growing up in the South must be genuinely different.

I was born as well as raised up North however my spouse is from the deep south. He lived in a small city that borders a river as well as life was pretty simple. He didn’t even have a shopping center or filmplex for fifty miles. He as well as his siblings made their own fun as well as spent days lazing around in the heat, fishing or swimming, but now that he has relocated to the North he occasionally complains about the pace that everyone needs things done! The other morning he asked if my buddy and I could make apple pies on the weekend. I didn’t see why my buddy and I had to “make” them because my buddy and I could simply “buy” them at the store. He said that when he was a child it was one of his number one things to do with his mom. They would spend the morning in the orchard picking pears then head inside to help peel them. His mom would make the crust from scratch, slice the pears evenly, as well as coat them in butter as well as cinnamon. All of this sounded like something out of the granite ages to me, but, I wanted to make him cheerful so I told him I would give it a try. Thank goodness my buddy and I have air conditioner because turning on the oven on a morning where it is 85 degrees was the last thing I wanted to do. I cranked the air because I wanted to cool off the home entirely well before my buddy and I even started the process. Pie making turned out to be an adventure as well as one that I am sure I will perfect over time. My spouse was polite when I asked him how it taste although I am sure it was nothing like his mom’s.
