I had been having some trouble with the fireplace.

Some of the cement between the bricks was flaking out, and there was nothing but smoke coming into the house.

There was plenty of heat, but it was also putting smoke in our eyes. I talked to the HVAC company and asked who I should contact to get my fireplace repaired. They told me about a brick layer they knew. When I called the gentleman, he made an appointment to come out to the house. He said he could repair the broken bricks. That would make the hearth and mantle look better, but I needed someone to clean the chimney and make sure the flue was working properly. This made sense, and I called the local chimney sweep. He was there two days later. All I wanted was for my fireplace to be repaired before Christmas, and I was beginning to wonder if that was going to happen. When the chimney sweep was finished with the chimney, he had bad news. He said there was a lot of debris and creosote in the chimney that he had removed. There were also some broken bricks and cracks in between them that needed fixed. He wouldn’t suggest using the fireplace until I had the chimney repaired. I looked at my fireplace and shook my head. I was realizing a fire in the fireplace may not happen this year. I would just get a fireplace insert that ran on electricity, and hopefully I could find one that looked like it had flames in it.

When our furnace quit working, we wanted it repaired quickly.

My mom and dad lived with us, and they were both in their mid-eighties.

If it wasn’t eighty degrees in the house, they weren’t happy. I told them our furnace wasn’t working, and we had to huddle in the living room near the woodburner. An hour later, the HvAC technician arrived at the house. I expected him to show up sooner because we said it was an emergency, and we were paying the HVAC company for overtime hours on top of the emergency fee. He told us he was going to do the job as quickly as possible, but it took him over four hours. I asked why it took so long, and he said it was a difficult job. He still hadn’t completed the job, but he had to go to the HVAC company for more parts. Mom and dad were getting antsy and they wanted to go to bed, but I couldn’t let them away from the woodburner. I had to have HVAC or they were stuck here all night. I told the HVAC technician about my mom and dad and insisted he had to get the furnace running quickly. If he wasn’t done in half an hour, I would need to make a call to the hotel and get my parents out of this cold house. They couldn’t go without the furnace for much longer. Mom was shivering, and dad’s lips were turning blue. Six hours was more than enough to repair a furnace, and I wanted it done..

My wife told me she was in labor, and when I called the hospital they asked how far apart her pains were.

She told me they were fifteen minutes apart, and we were told to stay home and relax.

Until the pains were five minutes apart, she could stay home. The nurse said we had hours before she had to go to the hospital. In the meantime, it began to snow. I worried about getting to the hospital on time if it continued snowing and we waited much longer. My wife reminded me of what the doctor and nurse said and told me to relax. We sat in front of the fireplace and tried relaxing, but her pains, although still fifteen minutes apart, were getting harder. She was crying with every pain. I took her to the car, even though she was arguing about it, and we headed to the hospital. We got about three miles from home, and we couldn’t go any further. The police were stopping all cars because of an accident involving an ambulance and a truck. The heater was working to keep us warm, but it wouldn’t be for long. We had to turn the car off while sitting in the traffic jam. The HVAC system didn’t give off heat when the car wasn’t running. Five minutes later, my wife screamed and said the baby was coming. How did fifteen minutes turn into the baby coming? We talked to a police officer walking around and he brought someone back from the ambulance. The ambulance had a broken tie rod, but the heat was on, and they could handle delivering a baby. Five minutes later, our baby boy was born.

I sell a lot of things online and one of them is new heating and air conditioning equipment. I am going home in just a few weeks and need to receive some money while I am there, so I am going to try to sell some heating and cooling systems online to cover the trip. Four weeks is enough time to get things going again with it and make a little money. I also sell things such as oil furnace filters and cooling system compressors, so between all of those items I sell I am sure I can receive some money from it all. I need to get all of my ducks in a row before the trip, but I still have a little bit of time to do so. I hope they keep the temperature control unit in the plane at an adequate temperature for the long flight over. I suppose I will have to wear wintertime clothes on the plane because it is going to be entirely cold here when I leave early in the day. I may bring a little space furnace with me to stay warm as I bought one a few years ago and the thing is amazing. It runs off of a couple AA batteries and works legitimately well at keeping your hands hot while flying in a cold plane. It is basically a small radiant furnace which keeps your hands boiling warm by warming up a little metal plate that you hold. I wish they could make a small portable handheld A/C unit so I can keep cool during the summer also!

I wasn’t sure I would make it back to the States for the Wintertime holiday, but I think I just secured a roommate to watch our cats so I just booked the flight back.

If the roommate doesn’t pan out I am still going home and I’ll find a way to make it work.

I just need someone to look after our cats plus I would need to work some for the local company back home to receive some Uber and spending money. I just need to keep the expenditures under about $500 for miscellaneous things like taxis and whatnot. My heating and air conditioning rep friend will surely have some work for me to do when I go back, so I should be all set with money. Worst case scenario, I will pull a few hundred bucks from our crypto billfold, but I would rather not touch it, so I will leave it as a last resort. I think with the heating and cooling repairs for our buddie’s corporation I will make enough money to cover whatever I spend when I am back home. The most pressing thing of all is I AM GOING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS! I was thinking I wouldn’t make it home and I would be resting in this cold empty flat listening to our air cleaner humming while I’m staring at the walls. I don’t suppose resting alone during the Christmas holidays would be fantastic for my soul and happiness. I could sell one or two heating and air conditioning systems online and make enough money to cover the whole trip, so I am trying that route too.

It’s that time of year again, time to scrub the oil furnace filter and the other stuff with our heating and air conditioning unit so that I stay toasty this wintertime season.

I bet all of us will get some afternoons below freezing as this day was about 48F, and it seems as if the temps are degrading hastily! This flat is pretty well insulated and the temperature control unit is fairly new and has a pretty high SEER rating.

So I suppose it will be fantastic this wintertime when we get down to those low temps soon. Today is the 20th of September and I will be going back to the States on the 20th of December and will be in the south where the weather will be quite warm. I plan on seeing my HVAC rep when I go back to see if she needs some help with her cooling and heating business. I’ve been toiling with her for numerous years and she has just entered into the heating and air conditioning field, which is where most of our experience lies. My dad was in the field too and I worked with him when I was 13 years old and acquired a lot of experience over the years from toiling with him. I started my own local company back in the day doing cooling technology repairs, and I ran it for 13 years before deciding to close the doors to pursue a job in the performing arts industry. There is nothing like showbiz to instill some life back into your heart and soul, and I’m so enthusiastic I stepped on that stage back on September 24th 2005!

This month I am going to book my flight back home for a more than two month visit over the Christmas holidays. I wasn’t sure I would be able to go back home but now with this roommate moving in soon I will have the money to do so. She is an orthodontic student in a city about 30 minutes away, so she would be gone most of the day and evening during the week. I entirely hope she moves in because she seems to have a similar mindset to me and also has experience toiling in the heating and air conditioning field from years ago. Both of us would be able to talk about A/C compressors and hot water boilers and have some things in common. I would be ecstatic to have half of the living expenses shared by someone else, as I have been living alone in this flat and bearing the brunt of the bills for almost a year now. I wouldn’t have to spend all of the money I receive from the heating and air conditioning corporation where I work to pay for our rent and utilities anymore, which is just stupendous. I could honestly start saving some money again and building a buffer in the bank once more. My heating and cooling unit could be diagnosed officially again by paying for a three year repair contract from the local company in our town. Money makes a lot of things possible but it is not the key to happiness, so don’t give it too much weight in your life story. I wish you luck and remember to clean your washable HEPA filter!
