When you really think about it, heating and air conditioning technology has advanced majorly from what it was about 15 years ago.

We have so many advancements it actually is hard for me to personally keep up with them all.

It seems like just yesterday that the smart thermostat was introduced. And now today with all the other stuff we have it is just amazing. The latest piece of heating and air conditioning technology that I came across which I think is wonderful is smart air vents. It is more of the smart technology world coming over to heating and air conditioning. And what it does is adjusts the air vents to direct the air flow automatically to help heat and cool your home much better. In a sense, it sort of works like heating and air conditioning zone control, however you can not control the temperature from room to room. But the smart air vents do smooth things out all together when it comes to directional air flow in your home. And you do not have to do anything. It detects when there is uneven temperatures and that is when it goes to work and redirects the air flow. That is something I would have never imagined would have been possible 15 years ago! Or even a few years ago. It really makes me wonder what could be next for heating and air conditioning technology. It almost seems that just when I think that we have gone as far as we can go it turns out that they invent something completely new that makes HVAC options even better!

Whenever we were staying overnight in a hotel a couple of weeks ago, the heating system in the hotel room was not working.

This was not good for us because it was really cold outside that night.

We had been driving around in the cold weather all day, and the only thing that we wanted to do was snuggle up in bed and get a warm night’s sleep. However, it just did not seem like that was in the cards for us. As soon as we walked into the lobby we noticed that the temperature was not as warm as it should have been. The guy at the front desk told us that they were having some issues with their heating and cooling system. He said that some of their rooms were having issues with the heating and ours just so happened to be one of them. We asked him to just move us to a different room, but that was the main issue. They were hosting a conference and every single room was booked up. It was the same thing with all of the hotels across the city, too. So we were either going to have to stay in a room without a working heating system or just do without a room altogether. Since we were all very tired and ready for bed, we decided to just stay in the room and deal with it. The people at the front desk gave us a little electric space heater, so at least we were able to get the temperature in our room up a little bit. It wasn’t nice and cozy like we wanted it to be, but at least we weren’t freezing.

There is a yucky smell in our car that I smell every time that I turn on the heating system.

It’s so annoying and I don’t really know what in the world to do about it.

I was looking online for different reasons that there might be an issue with it. On on one website, I found out that there might be mold or mildew growing inside of the heating and air conditioning side of the car. But that did not make me feel very good about things! I certainly do not want to be breathing in air inside of a closed-in vehicle that has mold or mildew blowing around through the ventilation system! I have never had any kind of problem like this in a car that I have owned before, so this is all new to me. I tried calling the local mechanic to see what he had to say about it but they are all booked up until next weekend. I don’t really know what to do other than not run the heating system for the next week and a half! It’s been so cold around here lately that I just don’t want to do that at all, though! The weather has really been freezing cold around here lately and I know that it is not going to get any better for at least another couple of months. Usually the temperature here during the month of February is even colder than it is in January so if I don’t get this heating situation fixed, we may end up with a problem. It isn’t exactly like I’m going to be able to take a portable space heater in the car with me in the mornings!

When I was making the rounds at the after holiday sales this year, I bought a new electric space heater.

• I feel like I am always in need of a space heater in some area of the house or another.

Even though we installed a new high efficiency heating and cooling system last year, our house is very old and very drafty. That means that even though we have a really great heating and cooling system, the insulation in the house does not always do its job to keep it in. Sometimes it can get very frustrating because it makes our heating and cooling bills go up. I know that we need to get some new insulation of some sort but up until this point we haven’t made it a point to do so yet. We don’t have much money saved up in our home improvement fund. We probably will have it soon, but we don’t have enough to do that yet. Anyway, once in a while it gets super cold in our house and the only thing that helps is an electric space heater. That’s the way it is in our upstairs bedroom anyway. If we ever have somebody staying over in the upstairs guest bedroom, we just about always have to put an electric space heater in there. Otherwise, the temperature in the room stays way too cold to be comfortable. This new electric space heater that I got is really great, though. It’s light and portable but it gives off more heat than you would think it would!

My new smart thermostat has lots of great features. One of the best things about it is the fact that it reminds me when I need to change the air filter. Changing out the air filter in my home’s HVAC system has always been an issue for me. I just can’t ever seem to remember to do it. The only time I ever even think about my HVAC system is when I go down into the basement. If I see the disgustingly dirty air filter, that is when I realize how dirty it is. That is the only time that I ever think about the fact that I probably need to change it. It is a really bad habit, and I know for a fact that it is not good for my HVAC system. Having a nice fresh air filter for the air to flow through into your ventilation system really helps with your home’s indoor air quality. Not only that, but it can help to extend the life of your heating and cooling system. Up until this point, I have been single-handedly ruining the air quality of my house along with the lifespan of my heating and cooling system in one fell swoop! It’s just a bad habit, I know. I could easily figure out the right dates to change the air filter, but I guess I am just a procrastinator sometimes. Now, though, it won’t be an issue for me anymore. I am really glad that my new smart thermostat has the feature of giving me a reminder when it is time to change out the air filter. Hopefully, I will never end up with a really dirty one ever again.

I called my mom last week, because I needed someone to vent to.

• No matter what I did, I was always put last on my wife’s list.

Last week I needed the HVAC technician to come to the house and work on the furnace, but there was no one available. I called my wife to see if there was something she could do to get the furnace repaired, and she told me I had to wait until she got home and she would look at it. She worked at the HVAC company and I couldn’t understand why she couldn’t handle the situation right away. Her dad owned the HVAC company and I thought he would want to take care of his family before other people. I was so angry that I was shaking. When she got home that evening, she talked to me like I was a customer. She asked what was wrong with the furnace, and I just looked at her. She was the HvAC technician, and she should pick up on the odd noises and lack of airflow. I shouldn’t need to tell her. She shook her head and went to the basement. She yelled upstairs and asked if I would bring her tools in front the service van, but I pretended I didn’t hear her. She grumbled when she came upstairs and got her tools, then grumbled when she went back downstairs to the furnace. An hour later, she had the furnace fixed and came back upstairs. She cuddled the baby and asked if I had dinner ready?

When I called the owner of the apartment I lived in, it was to tell him the furnace had broken.

He said he would get an HVAC technician to the house as soon as possible.

It was getting colder by the minute, and I was considering going to my friend’s house until the HVAC technician could arrive. It was only five degrees out, and I knew I couldn’t stay here much longer. I was sitting in the living room wrapped up in a blanket when the owner of the house called. He asked if I had a space heater. I didn’t have one and he said he had three. I asked if I could use one of his space heaters. He said he called to offer them to me if I wanted. It wasn’t my fault the HVAC system had broken down, and I shouldn’t be suffering. His wife was in the background and I could hear her telling him to give her the phone. When she got the phone out of his hands, she asked if I wanted to come to their house instead of staying there with space heaters. The HvAC company couldn’t get a technician to the house for about forty-eight hours. She worried the pipes may freeze, and even though her husband had heat tapes on the pipes, it was still a possibility. I thanked her, but I told them I would go to my friend’s house and stay warm. She sounded upset that she couldn’t do more for me, but I had to take care of myself.
