What’s the big deal about living in your van?

Three years ago I converted my van into an apartment.

  • I saw a TV show where they converted a van into a camper that had a full family roomette at the back door, with a bed near the front.

I had a small ductless Heating plus A/C method so I didn’t need to have the van running 24/7. After graduating college, I moved south. I was hoping to get a task in Marine Biology with 1 of the state aquariums. Whenever I put in an application for employment, the first question is name and address. I didn’t have an address so I put down the license number of my van. I usually got an strange look and I was sure they didn’t even look at the application. One person asked about my van and what it was like living in it? I told them I had everything I needed and invited him over for brunch. I pulled out the grill and got it heating. When he showed up, I had everything ready to cook. The first thing he asked about was the van. I showed him the bed and how it folded back to supply me a couch if I had corporation. There wasn’t head room, although I had a small fridge for drinks and chips, and even a locale for my clothing. I pulled out the porta potty and showed it to him. I basically had everything however running water. He asked me what I did for Heating plus A/C. I showed him the ductless Heating plus A/C method and let him believe how enjoyable the heating and air conditioner could be. The people I was with and I had brunch while I was in the sunset and then he told me to come to the HR department the next day.
