This is the part of coming home that I don’t care so much about, the heat. It gets way too hot out in the day, after about 930am, so I end up a prisoner in my home until it cools down in the evening. I’m only here for another two weeks or so then I will escape to the refuge of the cooler weather where I am living overseas. It will be really hot here for about five months straight and I don’t miss the heat at all. My electric bills used to be really high because my old HVAC system would be running all day trying to keep the house cool. I’ve been living overseas for seven years now and plan on coming back to the states every five months to visit for a month or so. I have noticed that the newer HVAC technology uses far less energy than several years ago. My dad’s house is about 5000 square feet and my stepmom said that the power bills in the summer, with the air conditioner going most of the time, was only about $150. It is really neat that they have made the newer HVAC equipment so efficient. I wonder what it will be like in another twenty five years? Maybe we will have solar and wind power to run our units and keep us warm and cool in the winters and summers, respectively.
