I felt that I had babied my HVAC system as much as possible and I had given it the maintenance that it required to get the most life out of it
I was remiss to part with my trusty HVAC unit. I had kept it well-maintained for 13 years. Well, I guess you know what they say about lucky number 13. I started to notice the telltale signs that my heating and air conditioning system was going to be kicking the bucket soon. The first thing that tipped me off that my HVAC system was not doing so well was that the air coming out of the vents while the air conditioner was on simply was getting slightly warmer. My HVAC system just didn’t have the cooling power that it used to have. Furthermore, I noticed an increased frequency of banging and clicking noises whenever the HVAC system would turn on and off. I certainly knew that couldn’t be good! There was also a developing, slight odor in the air that was quite musty. This odor was particularly prevalent on very hot and muggy days. Finally, I noticed that my electric bill was steadily increasing despite the fact that I was using my air conditioner the same way I always had. I felt that I had babied my HVAC system as much as possible and I had given it the maintenance that it required to get the most life out of it. That’s why I was so sad about the prospect of having to replace it. It just seemed too early to let it go! Oh well, I suppose it will be more affordable to purchase a brand new HVAC system instead of attempting to constantly repair the old one!
