During the midst of a heat wave, I did what everyone else does: I sat inside. The temperature wasn’t the only bad thing because the humidity was also intense. The heat plus humidity combined was an uncomfortable mess that begged me not to step outside, instead, I found things to do inside. I cleaned the house, caught up on a book, and I relaxed for the first time in weeks, and having all that extra time inside was a blessing because I noticed something wasn’t right. I heard the cooling system turn on and I realized that it wasn’t shutting off. I went to the control equipment and raised the temperature in hopes that the air flow would stop, when nothing happened, I realized that I needed to call a professional. I contacted the local heating and air conditioning company in a panic and they told me to power off our AC plan and that a heating plus air conditioning specialist would be on his way. This seemed risky because the heat was intense outside. The thought of being with AC while I was in a heat wave sounded dreadful. Thankfully, the heating plus air conditioning specialist was at our house within 30 minutes. When he turned our control equipment back on, the AC resumed normally. He waited for a few hours to make sure everything was okay and he adjusted the temperature. Before leaving, he proposed that I keep the temperature a little higher while I was in the heatwave just to keep our AC plan from overworking itself. If it happened again, I needed to shut it down again and call him back.
