A night out because of the HVAC

So, I totally rolled the dice and it came up a stone loser.

That’s the sort of thing that happens when you bet on hope and prayer.

This is essentially what I did when I bet against a trained HVAC professional. The HVAC technician was out this spring to do the spring air conditioning tune up. And when he finished, he informed us that the heat pump was probably not going to make it through another summer. Of course, I should have known that given the fact that I was the one who had that HVAC unit installed when we first bought the house. Yet, I just didn’t start saving for the known eventuality of replacing the HVAC equipment. To say I was caught by surprise would be an understatement. My wife and I thought that we might be able to seal up the house really tight and put up solar shades to stop the direct sunlight heating to ease the load. That was the plan we decided upon and we went into the summer thinking that we had a good chance to make it. It’s nearly mid August which is about the most brutal part of the summer. This is when you want your heat pump firing on all cylinders. Well, ours is dead and we are making sure that we go out each night to enjoy air conditioning elsewhere. We wait almost until bedtime and then line up the fans. It’s going to be this way for a few weeks while we wait for the HVAC equipment to get here.
